We're on a mission to create a rich living library of seed. Seed that is bio-diverse, resilient and adapted to our local conditions, but we need your help.

We want as many people involved as possible, and most importantly, we want to have fun doing it!

Our new years resolution this year was to sit back and take stock of everything we had done over the past 3 years during our residency with @greenhealthyfrome. Well, in news that will surprise absolutely no one, that didn't happen. Instead, we accidentally ended up taking on a new plot at the fantastic community garden at The Key Centre...SURPRISE! 🎉 Alongside fellow volunteers, we're working to continue the legacy of those who helped establish the garden originally, one of whom, John, is a dear friend of the seed library. Their custodianship of the garden, through thick and thin, is bloody admirable, and it's thanks to them that the garden not only survived, but continued to thrive, regardless of the state of the Key Centre. So thank you, Bev, John, and everyone who helped create and sustain this wonderful garden. The Key Centre is now operated by @frometowncouncil and is open throughout the week, hosting community groups including @purple_elephant_frome @super_roots_ok , a great cafe @thepodcharity, and various support groups. It really is a brilliant space, and we have exciting plans for the garden next year (funding permitting 😬) Anyhow, enjoy this video of us creating our Bean Patch. We'll be sharing more details of the varieties we grew soon 🫘

What better way to see out the end of (astronomical) summer*, than with a quiz at Palmer Street Bottle, all in aid of Friends of Frome Library? We're setting the questions, so currently trying to remember what happened over the summer apart from a lot of sunburn and being really sweaty. If this sounds like fun (erm...) and you'd like to join us, DM (on Insta) or ping us a message at fromeseedlibrary@gmail.com or DM @palmerstbottle Max table size is 6 so grab some pals and make a night of it. Cheers! *yes we know the end of astronomical summer is technically the 22nd, and yes we know that some choose to live their life by the meteorological calender, but we're doing it on the 17th and I'm incapable of writing a quiz without a theme. So there.
The tray is back, we have seeds! It's mainly flower seed at the moment, but it's all good for autumn sowing, so fill ya boots! The seed library is located inside Frome Library. Just take a sharp left when you enter, and we're tucked away in the corn

Just take a sharp left when you enter, and we're tucked away in the corner of the seating area. All free, just take what you need. It looks like you lot have been busy seed saving this week, so we have lots more donations to process, so we may have a Seedy Social soon... #seedsaremagic #seedsovereignty
